Book Buzz

They all said I should create a buzz around my books, so I did.

Random Bullets is a contemporary crime thriller with a paranormal twist. Set mainly in Jersey, Manchester, Cornwall, London, and places not of this world. It’s my personal favourite.

A Slice of the Seventies, The Lying Scotsman, and Straws are all loosely autobiographical and form the Mug Trilogy.

Potholes and Magic Carpets is a contemporary novel set in rural Kent and London. A tale of not so simple folk.

Her demonic Angel is my baker’s dozen of short stories in various genres. It is also available as an audiobook.

Living with Postcards is a perfect present from the past. It is my only non-fiction book and is colour-illustrated throughout.

The Hostile series is an unusual collection of paranormal crime thrillers, mostly set in Manchester. Each can be read as a standalone. Book one, The Hostile, is also available as an audiobook. Holiday for The Hostile is book two in the series. Book three is The Hostile Game. Audiobooks of these two books are in production on ACX. I’m currently writing book four, Confronting The Hostile.

Kindle editions of my ten books on Amazon are £0.99 each, or equivalent currencies and are always free to Kindle Unlimited subscribers. The paperback versions of my books won’t break the bank either. If you enjoy audiobooks as much as I do, two of my books, The Hostile, and Her demonic Angel, are available as audiobooks on Amazon, Audible, and iTunes.

I published the Kindle of The Hostile Game on Amazon today

Today, I published the Kindle edition of THE HOSTILE GAME on Amazon.

In The Hostile Game, Manchester-based Serena, now eighteen and pregnant, finally discovers the reason why Tile X befriended her seven years before. She doesn’t like what she hears. Mayhem ensues, with a retired Irish police superintendent becoming more involved than perhaps he should have.

The Hostile Game, the third book in The Hostile series, is a gripping contemporary paranormal thriller. It was published on Amazon in Kindle and paperback editions in April 2017 and can be read as a standalone like the other books in this unusual series.

Readers tell me The Hostile Game is even better than the first two books, The Hostile, and Holiday for The Hostile. I’m currently writing book four of the series, Confronting The Hostile.

A big day for Holiday for The Hostile

The Kindle edition of my brand new book, Holiday for The Hostile is FREE on Amazon only today, 3rd December.

front-cover-holiday-for-the-hostile-newHoliday for The Hostile is a gripping contemporary paranormal thriller with a splash of horror. It’s currently #11 in its category on Amazon in its first two days following publication, which is encouraging.
Serena, plus her unusual friend and partner in crime, Tile X, reluctantly find themselves suffering a family holiday at her eccentric grandfather’s hovel in Ireland. Who will escape intact from their dramatic holiday from Hell?
Readers tell me they think Holiday for The Hostile, that was published on 1st December 2016, is more thrilling than book one, The Hostile. My mission, should I choose to accept it, is to ensure book three in The Hostile series is even more exciting than the first two. No pressure.

Remember, remember the fifth of November

Remember, remember the fifth of November. I certainly will always remember that date as it was my first time sharing a platform with four other local authors at Oldham Library as part of last week’s ‘Love to Read’ events. I was as interested to hear what the other authors had to say as I was in speaking myself.

intro-to-author-talk-jpg  me-giving-me-talk-jpg

Suzanne Hudson, the lady who recently agreed to place six of my eight books on the shelves of Oldham Library, introduced us all to the audience and then we were up and running. I was going to speak off the cuff, but I’m glad I finally opted to write down all I wanted to say. As the first author considerably overran his allotted fifteen minutes, I was then able to discard a few paragraphs on the hoof when it was my turn so the other authors would all have enough time to speak.

This photo depicts me rummaging in my handbag for change whilst talking the hind legs off the lady buying Random Bullets from me. She also took a copy of Her demonic Angel as she told me that she enjoys reading short stories.

The photo on the left is of me being forced to hold a prop fan by the library admin, but at least it was marginally more sensible than the pink cardboard hat author Helen Durrant ended up with.

me-and-books-1-jpg

I’d only brought six of my eight books to the event. Delighted that Random Bullets was the book of choice bought by a few members of the audience. I had a gut feeling that it would be as big a favourite with the audience as it is for me. I had been toying with the idea of only bringing Random Bullets paperbacks to the event, but at least people could see the evidence that I’ve written a number of books and my other seven books aren’t mere figments of my overactive imagination. They looked great splayed out on the table in front of me. The last photo makes me look like a giant compared to Helen Durrant, but it is mostly due to perspective … I think. I’ll have several copies of my books left over from Oldham Libraries event to bring to my solo author event at Oldham Coliseum on 24th January 2017 at 1.15p.m. By then, I’ll hopefully be able to also bring along paperbacks of book nine, my current book, Holiday for The Hostile.
