Book Buzz

They all said I should create a buzz around my books, so I did.

Random Bullets is a contemporary crime thriller with a paranormal twist. Set mainly in Jersey, Manchester, Cornwall, London, and places not of this world. It’s my personal favourite.

A Slice of the Seventies, The Lying Scotsman, and Straws are all loosely autobiographical and form the Mug Trilogy.

Potholes and Magic Carpets is a contemporary novel set in rural Kent and London. A tale of not so simple folk.

Her demonic Angel is my baker’s dozen of short stories in various genres. It is also available as an audiobook.

Living with Postcards is a perfect present from the past. It is my only non-fiction book and is colour-illustrated throughout.

The Hostile series is an unusual collection of paranormal crime thrillers, mostly set in Manchester. Each can be read as a standalone. Book one, The Hostile, is also available as an audiobook. Holiday for The Hostile is book two in the series. Book three is The Hostile Game. Audiobooks of these two books are in production on ACX. I’m currently writing book four, Confronting The Hostile.

Kindle editions of my ten books on Amazon are £0.99 each, or equivalent currencies and are always free to Kindle Unlimited subscribers. The paperback versions of my books won’t break the bank either. If you enjoy audiobooks as much as I do, two of my books, The Hostile, and Her demonic Angel, are available as audiobooks on Amazon, Audible, and iTunes.

Her demonic Angel is my baker’s dozen of short stories. I wrote them in a variety of genres, so there should be something for everyone. Some tales are more strange than others, but all are different shades of dark. Despite its slightly suggestive title, Her demonic Angel is not erotica.

To whet your appetite, here are titles of some of my short stories: The boy they called Dragon, The day nobody gave a damn, An email from Jane, Stuff, Getting rid of the enemy, Skin, Too beautiful, Philately will get you nowhere, Mirror, mirror, and In memoriam.

The Hostile series

Each book in The Hostile series of paranormal crime thrillers can be read as a standalone. The series consists of The Hostile, Holiday for The Hostile and The Hostile Game. I’m currently writing book four, Confronting The Hostile.

Book 1. THE HOSTILE. (published in 2016. 192 pages) http://amzn.to/2pAHALo
In a rundown area of Manchester, inside the bathroom of a terraced house overflowing with children and dysfunctional parents, a powerful entity befriends young Serena with disastrous results. This unlikely enigmatic force not only dramatically affects introverted Serena’s life but also threatens the well-being of everyone she knows, especially those people who’ve earned the strange girl’s displeasure. It soon becomes clear that nobody should ever upset Serena … if they know what’s good for them. After reading The Hostile, you’ll never look at D.I.Y. in the same way again.
Available on Amazon as a Kindle and paperback. The audiobook is available on Audible, Amazon and iTunes.

Book 2. HOLIDAY FOR THE HOSTILE. (published in 2016. 208 pages) http://amzn.to/2fJTSg0
Serena, plus her unusual friend and partner in crime, Tile X, reluctantly find themselves suffering a family holiday at her eccentric grandfather’s hovel in Ireland. Who will manage to escape intact from their dramatic holiday from Hell?
Available on Amazon as a Kindle and paperback. The audiobook is in production.

Book 3. THE HOSTILE GAME. (published in 2017. 179 pages) http://amzn.to/2oYlsqC
In The Hostile Game, Manchester-based Serena, now eighteen and pregnant, finally discovers the reason why Tile X befriended her seven years before. She doesn’t like what she hears. Mayhem ensues, with a retired Irish police superintendent becoming more involved than perhaps he should have.
Available on Amazon as a Kindle and paperback. The audiobook is in production.

Step into the ‘refreshingly original’ world of The Hostile and lose yourself in a ‘bizarrely captivating’ read.

One of my little rituals

True to form, as soon as the postman delivered my newly published tenth book, The Hostile Game, through my letterbox, after examining it and finding it flawless, I threw it on the living room floor with the rest of my books, whipped out my iPhone and shot a few photographs.

The Hostile Game has now joined my other nine books on their own special shelf, next to a bronze naked lady sculpted by my brother. Steve had been a prolific sculptor before suffering a severe stroke several years ago.

In four or five months, I’ll hopefully be repeating the process when I’ve finished writing book eleven, Confronting the Hostile, book four of The Hostile series. I’ve written five chapters, but there’s no hurry. I usually write from 11 am until 6 pm each day, so it’s hard not to write a 200-page book every few months, including rigorously editing and designing it. When it comes to writing, I’m a disciplined enthusiast.

Another landmark day

I’m excited and delighted to be holding the first paperback copy of The Hostile Game, book three of The Hostile series, only two days after it was published on Amazon. It’s only £5.75 or equivalent currencies. At the end of April, the Kindle version will join the paperback version on Amazon.

I’m currently writing book four of the series, Confronting The Hostile, which will be my eleventh book. Each book in this unusual paranormal thriller series can be read as a standalone.

I published the paperback of The Hostile Game today

Today, 17th April, I published the paperback edition of The Hostile Game on Amazon, a couple of weeks ahead of publishing the Kindle version. I could also publish the Kindle today, but I’m waiting for some of my Facebook launch team to finish reading the kindle version. I’ve received enough positive feedback from those who’ve already read it to know it’s ready to publish. A couple of them have said it is the best book of the series. I’m currently writing book four, Confronting The Hostile. Each book in this paranormal thriller series can be read as a standalone.

The main reason I’ve released the paperback edition before the Kindle is so that my ancient mother can read it. She doesn’t enjoy reading Kindle books, only paperbacks. I want to hear what she thinks of my tenth book. She should receive the copy I’ve sent her in a couple of days. She has no idea it’s on its way so it’ll hopefully be a pleasant surprise. She enjoyed the other two books in the series. My sister, Ali, is staying with my mother in Jersey for a few days, so hopefully she’ll have a chance to also read it. Ali literally raved about Holiday for The Hostile, book two in The Hostile series, claiming she even had dreams about it afterwards. Naturally, I’m hopeful that there should also be readers, other than my family, who will enjoy The Hostile Game.

Started to write book eleven today

Even though The Hostile Game, book three in The Hostile series,  won’t be published on Amazon until the end of April 2017, I’m feeling so inspired, today I started to write book four in The Hostile paranormal thriller series. It’ll be my eleventh book since 2007. I don’t have a title for it yet, but it’ll come to me in time.

I could publish The Hostile Game in Kindle and paperback on Amazon now as it is finished and edited, but I want to wait for my Facebook Launch Team to give me their valuable feedback about the latest book. My Launch Team members were wonderfully helpful and supportive when I was working towards publishing Holiday for The Hostile in December 2016. They gave this second book in the series a real boost when it hit Amazon, and I’m hopeful the same will happen when I publish book three, The Hostile Game in Kindle and paperback on Amazon. It is written and edited, but I want to wait for my Facebook Launch Team to give me their valuable feedback about the latest book. Now it’s back to writing the fourth book in The Hostile series, title as yet unknown. Who’d have thought all these books would have flowed after I spotted an unusual object in my house? All it took was a ton of imagination and the urge to tell a strange story to anyone who would listen.
