Here’s my sister, Alison Houiellebecq, reading Potholes and Magic Carpets last Summer on St Brelades beach in Jersey, the island where we were born. I’m looking forward to spending a weekend at St Brelades Bay Hotel with Alison and other relatives to celebrate my mother’s 90th birthday next year.

The audiobook of The Trouble With Liam is now available

I was excited to see the audiobook of my latest book, The Trouble With Liam, had popped up on Audible, Amazon, and iTunes last night.

This morning, I was even more excited to see my ninth audiobook, beautifully narrated by Tracey Norman, has already been Whispersynced. This means if you buy the Kindle edition for 99p, you can buy the audiobook for £3.47 instead of £22.89 or equivalent currencies. I love a bargain, don’t you?

the trouble with liam audiobook cover word plus text jpg

THE TROUBLE WITH LIAM, is a powerful psychological thriller set in Ireland and Sheffield. It tells the life story of Liam O’Sullivan in all its twisted glory. The book begins with tales of Liam’s challenging childhood in Dublin and follows him through tragic events which change him into a misogynistic, controlling, ultimately lethal bully living in Sheffield. Liam thought he could do as he pleased … until he was taught otherwise. Prepare to be shocked in different ways throughout the book. If you’re not a fan of thrillers or reading books containing violence, sex, and swearing, please avoid The Trouble With Liam. If you enjoy lashings of dark humour, situations to make your eyes pop out, thrills of every kind all wrapped up in a gripping, dramatic storyline, please read on. I’m currently writing the next books in the series, The Trouble With Russell, and The Trouble With Kate.

And from where I’m standing, she’s way out in front”; “With some books, you get an idea where things are going and where they’re likely to end. Not this one. A Slice of the Seventies audiobook went live yesterday

The audiobook of A Slice of the Seventies, narrated by Tracey Norman, went live on Audible, Amazon, and iTunes yesterday. It is my eighth audiobook on those sites and the second that Tracey has narrated for me. She also narrated my character-led novel, Potholes and Magic Carpets earlier this year. I’m thrilled by how perfectly she’s narrated Potholes and Magic Carpets and A Slice of the Seventies, the autobiographical first book in The Mug Trilogy. I hope to work with her again soon as she’s a class act with the best diction I’ve ever heard. Like all my other books, A Slice of the Seventies is also available on Amazon in Kindle and paperback formats.

A Slice of the Seventies audiobook on Audible.co.uk

A Slice of the Seventies tells the story of Jersey-born Mug, a troubled girl from a recently broken home. It covers her experiences as a teenager at the Isle of Wight Music Festival in 1970, the same year she follows a guru. The book tracks her tumultuous four years as an art student in Coventry, where vegetarian Mug finds herself living next door to an abattoir and a railway shunting yard with David, a fellow art student. Dramatic events follow on from the evening they first meet at a party, where David is attempting to commit an extremely public suicide. Whether you were around during that decade or not, you’re bound to enjoy this nostalgic Slice of the Seventies. This loosely autobiographical book can be enjoyed as a standalone without having to read The Lying Scotsman, and Straws which are books 2 and 3 in the Mug trilogy.

Doc Togden said in his review, “I have studied and written about this period of British cultural history – and find this book completely delightful. Now you don’t need Dr Who’s TARDIS – you have A Slice of the Seventies.” “A thoroughly gripping read – it will make you boogy.”
